An ars poetica G20? We have a power house Group of 20+ on stage for Rampike June 24

Join us this Thursday, June 24, 8 pm at the Black Swan, 154 Danforth, as we celebrate the launch of the “Cultural Mischief” issue of Rampike Magazine.

Rampike & livewords present a “G20″ of poetics in a very political week (yeah apparently there is something going on downtown too, President of Brazil and some others too).

We have a power house of Group of 20+ on stage:

Gary Barwin, Greg Betts, Clara Blackwood, Margaret Christakos, Frank Davey, Adam Dickinson, John Donlan, Claudio Gaudio, Karl Jirgens, Jim Johnstone, Babar Khan, rob mclennan, Desi di Nardo, Edward Nixon, Concetta Principe, Jenny Sampirisi, Lara Solnicki, Lindsay Tipping, Myna Wallin, and Richard Underhill . . .

Following the readings of 19 solo + Betts & Barwin, we will have a short musical set starting at 10:30 pm featuring: Richard Underhill (Shuffle-Demon founder) & members of the “Free Spirit” ensemble with:

Richard Underhill – Saxophone
Alex Goodman – Guitar
Wes Neal – Bass

Edward says “Come listen and drink–the bar needs to make some money too”

Both kinds of poetry – August 18 at Clinton’s

livewords host and curator Edward Nixon will be reading at the Art Bar Poetry Series’ Poetry Hoedown on Tuesday August 18, 8 pm at Clinton’s, accompanied for the first time ever by his son Lalo Nixon-Pasten on guitar.

The Art Bar will have a Country & Western (both kinds of music) theme.

Edward & Lalo will be doing “poetry + music,” taking a somewhat “serious” approach. Edward will  read glosas based on country sources and Lalo will lay down some appropriate guitar atmosphere.

The balance of the evening will have more musical and comedic content – see this link for details: http://www.artbar.org/index.html.
