Getty, Greckol & Trewarha @ livewords

On Thursday, October 22 livewords will welcome Adam Getty, Sonja Greckol, and Blair Trewartha:

Adam Getty is the author of two books of poetry. His first book, Reconciliation, won the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award and the Hamilton Literary Award for Poetry, and was also nominated for the Trillium Poetry Award. His second book, Repose, was published in 2008. He was recently nominated for the Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts for an Emerging Artist. Adam attended the University of Toronto, where he studied anthropology, but left without taking a degree. He currently lives in Hamilton.

Sonja Greckol began to write poetry when Mike Harris was re-elected to a second five-year term in Ontario. Her work has appeared in Literary Review of Canada, Canadian Literature, Dalhousie Review, CV2, Canadian Women’s Studies, Fiddlehead and Matrix. She coordinates poetry for Women and Environments International Magazine. She has taught college and university, studied order and disorder in jokes, done human rights and gender-based research and consulting, and continues to do local activism while she writes.

Blair Trewartha hails from “Alice Munro” country in southwestern Ontario. Having arrived in Toronto, Blair has been active in the Vagabond Trust Reading Series, has been published in Misunderstandings Magazine, and currently keeps bread on the table by teaching ESL.
